GNACOPS IN COLLABORATION WITH NATIONAL READERS ASSOCIATION DONATE OVER 4000 COPIES OF LIBRARY BOOKS TO SCHOOLS IN CENTRAL AND WESTERN REGIONS OF GHANA.

Ghana National Council for Private Schools GNACOPS In collaboration with NATIONAL READERS ASSOCIATION and our offshore partners Ceciyaa Foundation, USA ,through the support of Halfprice Books,USA has donated 4,000 library books to thirteen private schools at Twifo Atti Morkwa, Hemang Lower Denkyira and Elubo Districts all of central and western regions respectively. Schools in central region that benefited from the donation were; Wemeso Christ the King, Apostolic Academy School located at Praso, Ama Benewa International School of Kampong community, Kayeraku Church of Christ School, King of Kings School of Ampenkro.

Others were Christ the King, Royal Academy School, Heaven Gate schools all of Praso, Tower of Faith of Aduabeng, Akwakrom Emmanuel Preparatory school, Ebenezer Preparatory School of Wamaso and Wisdom Academy at Kyenkun. Essien Academy School was the only academic institution in Western region that stood as a beneficiary.
The donated books which were under the sponsorship of Ceciyaa Foundation, USA and  Half Price Book Shop in Texas, USA were to whip up students’ interest in reading and to in the long run improve upon their fluency in English speaking.

This was premised on the decline reading interest among students which has been albatross around the neck of many academic institutions in their attempt to ensure that students excell in English language. Speaking during the donation, Mr. Enoch Gyetuah, National Executive Director for GNACOPS challenged students to develop a deep interest for reading so as to help boost their knowledge in the queen’s language, adding that parents should also guide their wards to develop interest in reading.

In an exclusive interview with  the Press, he hinted that a similar donation will be replicated at member-schools of GNACOPS within the shortest possible time plus the holding of a reading competition among private schools in Ghana for the year 2018. Receiving the books, Mr. Akummey, Coordinator for Private Schools of Hemang Lower Denkyire District thanked the leadership of GNACOPS for the act of benevolence and promised to make good use of them.  He, however ,advised proprietors, headmasters and teachers to assist students to inculcate the habit of reading in students of all private schools to improve the standard of education.  Madam Berlinda Owusu Manu, National Coordinator for National Readers Association challenged teachers to monitor students and encourage them to read more.
