Education in Ghana recently has been challenged with numerous and drastic alterations by institutions responsible for the formulation and implementation of educational policies in the educational sector. These have been on both sides of the coin, resulting in positive and negative effects. Many educationists in the country and beyond have expressed their firm stances and views on these critical educational reforms, mostly at the level of Basic Education.
The Ghana National Council of Private Schools(GNACOPS), exists as a regulatory body of Private Schools in Ghana and aims at bringing under one umbrella, Private Basic/ Secondary School Owners, Managers, Headmasters, Parents, Educational Consultants as well as Private School Coordinators from the Ghana Education Service.
With regards to recent educational modifications introduced, and in reference to our role as partners in education delivery in Ghana, it
has become necessary to review the operations of private education to meet the demands and standards of the newly-introduced educational policies, and to complement government’s efforts and aims at providing education for all Ghanaian children.
In furtherance of the above objectives aimed at enhancing effective collaboration among the various stakeholders in education delivery in Ghana, we are organizing a stakeholders’ conference on the formulation of a National Private Schools policy. This Conference, which is under the theme: Redefining the Phase of Private Education: The Role of STAKEHOLDERS, will seek to deliberate on effective ways by which the managements of private schools can augment the public -private partnership policy of the government in educational delivery in Ghana.
