HISTORIC DAY FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN TANO NORTH MUNICIPALITY (TNM) -30/07/18.



A remarkable day has been observed by the private schools in the Tano north municipality at Duayaw-Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo region.

This observation came about when the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) in collaboration with National Readers Association an education wing of CECIYAA FOUNDATION USA and its partners HALF PRICE BOOKS USA Texas came to the rescue of the private schools libraries by staffing them with library books.

Various speeches by the various dignitaries present started when the GNACOPS executive director Mr Enock Kwasi GYETUAH and his entourage arrived at the TNM education office.

The GNAPS chairman for the municipality, Nana Ampaabeng Kyeremeh of Bommaa Ebenezer school was introduced by the GES private schools coordinator for TNM after the opening prayer was made.

In his opening remarks, he gave a raining praise to GNACOPS executives by this gesture.
He said in his membership with GNAPS for over 20 years of over 40 years existence of GNAPS, he has never received anything of this sort and praised GNACOPS.

Mr Enoch Kwasi GYETUAH, the executive director of GNACOPS took the stage and took the gathering through the background reasons why GNACOPS was formed  citing poor leadership by the associations responsible for supporting the the private schools.
He therefore sensitized the people on the rational to promote agenda " GHANA FOR GHANA" where he said, GNACOPS is not a political wing but it speaks politics and through that policies could be well accepted and adored by the people, as we do with them and for them so that each and every individual would come out with communal attitude to help build the nation. He further stated that, Politics is not evil, it gives room for communal attitude enhancement and progress for enactment of  good policies.

The Tano North municipal chief executive's representative was full of praise to GNACOPS, National Readers Association of CECIYAA FOUNDATION  and half price books by the kind gesture they showed to the municipality and advised the proprietors not to keep the books in the offices but rather gave them to the children  to achieve it intended purpose.

Mr Seth K. Dankwaa, the TNM education office welfare chairman who represented the Municipal Education Director emphasized on the good exposure of the books to the pupils. He said the social media indeed today has affected both the old and the young  has to be relook at it by encouraging the children to develop the habit of reading. He also said the office will be very interested in making sure that the books are put to good use.

Ms Berlinda Owusu Manu, the National Coordinator  of National Readers Association was very much concern about the effective use of the books. She also said the books are not given to private schools alone but also public schools too. She said that one crime that any school owner will commit that is liable to prosecution is the the attempt to sell the books.

When the GNAPS chairman for Tano North Municipality took another turn to close the occasion, he started from where the national readers association Rep ended.
He said as the GNACOPS,National Readers Association  of CECIYAA FOUNDATION and Half Price Books do not discriminate between public and private schools, the MCE and education office must not discriminate against private schools in municipality.

The chairman thanked the entire crew of GNACOPS and National Readers Association and appealed to them to keep supporting the private schools which does not get any support anywhere.

Before the national executive director of GNACOPS presented  the books, he introduced Mr Desmond  Suaka of Christ the king International School , Terchire -sunyani as the GNACOPS B/A regional PRO. He also appealed to all stakeholders of private schools to join GNACOPS to full-time develop the potentials of pupils at the private schools.
